Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the FinzData website, API, Python client, downloads and data. Last updated: 10 October 2026.

1. Who we are and agreeing to these terms

The FinzData service is provided by FinzData ("FinzData", "we", "us"). By creating an account, signing in, buying a plan, using an API key, installing the finzdata Python client to access our API, or downloading data, you agree to these terms. If you use FinzData on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you can bind that organisation, and "you" includes it.

2. Accounts and API keys

You need an API key to use the API, and a signed-in account to buy a plan and to download files. Keep your key and your sign-in secret: you are responsible for all use of them. Each key is for one person, except as your plan allows (see section 4). Tell us at [email protected] if you think your key has been exposed, and we will issue a new one. We may revoke or replace a key that is shared, leaked or misused.

To protect your account, enforce the licence in section 4 and resolve payment disputes, we record sign-ins, API requests and downloads, including the time, IP address, approximate location and browser or client used. Each downloaded file is marked with the account it was licensed to and a download identifier. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle this information.

You must give a valid email address and be at least 18 years old.

3. Plans, payment and cancellation

Prices are shown on our pricing page. Paid plans combine a one-time purchase of history (the look-back years you choose, or the Institutional bundle) with a monthly subscription for daily updates, and optional add-ons such as Squeeze & Gamma Alerts. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices exclude taxes, which are added where required.

You can cancel a subscription at any time through Manage billing or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; the history you bought stays available as your plan describes. Because data is delivered digitally and becomes available immediately, one-time history purchases are non-refundable once your key or any download has been issued, and we do not refund partial subscription periods, except where the law requires otherwise.

If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us at [email protected] first: we answer quickly and will correct genuine errors. If you dispute a valid charge with your bank, we may provide our records of your purchase, sign-ins, downloads and API use to the payment processor and the bank, and we may suspend the account while the dispute is open.

We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period.

4. Your licence to use the data

Subject to these terms and to paying for your plan, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the data for the uses your plan allows:

  • Free and Look-back: use by one individual, for that individual's own research, including research for their own trading or their employer's internal research.
  • Institutional: internal business use by your organisation, as set out in your order or contract.

You may create your own analysis, research, charts, models, signals and trading decisions from the data, and share those results, provided the data cannot reasonably be extracted or reconstructed from what you share.

5. What you may not do

  • Redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent or publish the data, in raw or substantially raw form, to anyone else, or make it available through another product, feed or service.
  • Use the data to build or improve a product that competes with FinzData.
  • Share your API key, sign-in or downloads with anyone outside what your plan allows, or use one key from several people or places at once.
  • Remove or alter the licence marking in downloaded files.
  • Bypass rate limits, plan restrictions or security, or access the service other than through the API, the client and the website.
  • Remove or alter any source credit we supply with licensed third-party data.
  • Use the service in breach of any law, including securities and export-control laws.

Free sample files and the charts on our public pages may be viewed and evaluated freely, but the same redistribution limits apply to them.

6. Sources and third-party data

Our data comes from public sources (including the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Reserve), from licensed market data vendors, and from data owners whose series we sell under licence, including Moody's, the University of Michigan, S&P Dow Jones Indices, ICE Data Indices and Cboe. Licensed third-party series carry their owner's source credit in each download and must keep it.

Third-party data owners may impose additional terms or require us to stop providing a series. If that happens we may change or withdraw that data, and we will tell affected customers.

7. The FinzData Quantitative Model

Model outputs (regime labels, nowcasts and probabilities) are statistical estimates produced by rules and models we describe in our documentation. They can be wrong, and past behaviour does not predict future results.

8. Not investment advice

FinzData provides data and analytics for research. Nothing we provide is investment, financial, legal, tax or trading advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell anything. You are solely responsible for your investment decisions.

9. Accuracy and availability

We work to make the data accurate and timely, check each update before publishing it, and publish data freshness on our status page. Even so, market data can contain errors, gaps, delays and later corrections, from us or our sources. The service and all data are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Service levels apply only where agreed in an Institutional contract.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, FinzData will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any trading or investment losses, lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service or the data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify FinzData against claims arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the data, including any redistribution not permitted by section 5.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, fail to pay, or if required by law or by a data owner. You may stop using the service at any time. Sections 5, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 14 continue after termination, and you must delete data you are no longer licensed to use.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days' notice by email or on the website. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
